The Three Point Landing Contest is really just ten landing approaches with any contact counting
as a landing. The scoring is:
3 points for a landing with both skids on the pad.
2 points for a landing with one skid on the pad.
1 point for a landing in the general vicinity of the landing pad or for a bounce.
0 points for a crash or any landing that requires a little human intervention to launch again.
Each landing approach should be preceded by a clearing 360 degree turn in either direction.
We used a maximum time for all ten landings of four minutes in the first competition, but we may
start cutting that time down as the competition heats up.
Ten 3 point landings and approaches can be done in 1minute 47seconds, so even 2 minutes is
not out of the question. We could also use time as a way to handicap the better flyers and level
the landing area a little!
THANKS Win for coming up with this fun contest and rules.
The 3 Point Landing Contest had 4 contestants. We used time to level the landing field a little with most
people getting 3 minutes for 10 approaches and the very experienced folks getting 2 minutes.
The results were:
Norm - 19 points in 3 minutes, Leonard - 21 points in 3 minutes, Kevin - 25 points in 3 minutes, and
Steve - 29 points in 2 minutes!
